Trouble Opening Adobe Reader

I just downloaded the new version of Adobe reader, 11.0.04, on my Windows 7 computer. It downloaded and installed fine, but now it won't open. It doesn't open if I try to open a PDF from a file on my computer and if I try to just open it with no PDF it still won't open. I had no trouble with the earlier version so I am not sure what is wrong. What should I do to fix this so I can open PDFs on my computer?

    Some things to try...

    • Update to Reader 11.0.5
    • Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    • Can you open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].
    • If you cannot open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode in the registry; download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
