Illustrator stopped working! Won't Open.

Dec 5, 2013 2:39 PM

Help. On tight deadline and Illustrator won't open. Error messages is Adobe Illustrator has stopped working. Please enable Verdana fonts and relaunch. I did that and it still won't open. I upgraded yesterday. I have to get these files to the printer and I can't open an eps to edit!!!!

You need all four faces. For some people it's been also important that they use the TTF font, not the OTF.

ALso: it must be activated only once and it might not work, if you activate it through font management.

    You also need Tahoma

If it still does not work share details about your system.

Use Fontbook to permanently activate the Verdana and Tahoma fonts. Do not allow them to be managed by Suitcase. The problem will go away.

Suitcase may cause trouble. Try installing Verdana and Tahoma without Suitcase.

The Fontbook I'm referring to is the Apple installed font utility. The fonts have to be available in the System fonts folder before you start AI. You can try just placing a copy of the fonts there if you have others in a font vault or whatever suitcase calls it.
