What are you confused about Flex vs HTML? In a nutshell:

    - Flex is an application framework that uses AS3 and MXML (which is basically a markup language for AS3) and is rendered to SWFs and displayed by Flash Player and AIR

    - HTML/JS/CSS is a web page content language which is rendered by various browsers (FireFox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, mobile devices, etc.)

BTW, Flash Pro can output HTML these days, not just SWFs.

Also FYI, there are still lots of Flash jobs, just not as high of a demand in the brwoser/website market (though still some for sure, for example the creative microsite market still create a lot of Flash sites for desktop browsers.)

    Cheers.

If all goes well, you'll soon be able to use MXML and AS to create HTML apps.
