Dec 20, 2013 12:17 PM

Hello, I only had  Adobe Photoshop for about 2 months now. I have been using the Low Key tool in guided alot. Here recently I went to edit a photo and my reduce effect button tool will not work. I tried everything from restarting my computer and the program. I love using this tool but I can not get the reduce effect to work. Need HELP  Thank You

Do you mean Edit > Fade?  If yes, that only works if used right after applying the effect, and will be greyed out as soon as you do anything else to the image.

Try creating your low key effect on a copy of the BG layer, and reducing layer opacity to reduce the effect.

Sounds like your talking about Low Key in photoshop elements under Guided.

What version of photoshop elements and operating system are you using?

What happens when you press the Reduce Effect Button?

Do you see the Size and Opacity sliders?

I did wonder if it might be Elements.

See if resetting the pse 12 editor preferences solves the issue.

In the photoshop elements (Edit)>Preferences>General click on Reset Preferences on next launch and then restart the pse 12 editor.
