Photoshop CS3 has suddenly started crashing on start - VersionCue.framework is missing

I have been using CS3 for years on my Mac without issue. Tonight it's suddenly produced this error message and will not run:

I have looked for this VersionCue thing all across my computer but cannot find it. The AdobePatcher downloaded from the website refuses to run saying it cannot locate the product to be updated.

Re-installing Photoshop isn't possible as I upgraded to CS3 from 7 and 7 does not run on Intel Macs. I only have an upgrade version of CS3.

Is there no way to obtain VersionCue by itself? For such a vital componant it seems to be awfully hard to track down and/or fix.

Sounds like you lost some of the application support folder contents.

Check your backups for the files in that directory.

And check your disk for additional problems -- you shouldn't be losing files/folders without a reson...

You may be missing other support files.

Your safest course of action is to reinstall, and reapply the updates.
