Ball drop, smoosh and bounce

Jan 6, 2014 8:31 AM

Hi, I’m using Flash CS6 and the timeline to create a simple ball-smoosh animation. Starting with the ball at the top of the screen I created a motion tween and a few tweaks with the diamond markers and it works just fine. The ball drops and when it hits the bottom of the screen it “smooshes” appropriately, getting wider and shorter. So far so good. My question is “how do I now get it to bounce? I want it to bounce like any ball would but when I go to adjust the motion tween, I cannot get it to work. Should I create another layer to do this? Any advice will be most appreciated. Thank you.

What color is the motion tween you are using?

    Try:

    1. Add frames to the tween after the keyframe where the ball is at the bottom.
    2. Click the last frame of that.
    3. On the stage, drag the ball up and adjust its shape as needed by scaling

    What happens?

Glad I could help. I just bought "How to Cheat at Adobe Flash CS6" and it contains a lot of these techniques. Here's a sample, where you can get a free chapter.
