I've been using PSE 11 for some time with no problem. I recently upgraded my Mac operating sytem to 10.9.1 and now the workspace for the PSE 11 Organizer is not displaying properly. The top menu bar with the import, media, people, places, events, share, and create functions isn't visible. I'm also unable to scroll to the top of my catalog of photos. Is this an incompatibility problem or is there something else wrong? Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.
It is absolutely vital to delete all the PSE preferences on doing a major system upgrade like from 10.8 to 10.9. Directions are here:
Having said that, the comic and graphic novel filters in PSE 11 will crash PSE every time and there's no cure.
For your organizer problem, go to system preferences>displays and set the screen resolution down as far as possible, click Apply, then set it back up and that will usually snap your windows back into place. The problem you're describing is not related to 10.9. More often it happens when you've been using a larger second monitor and you go back to just your own screen.
Thank you so much, Barbara, for your reply. I tried the screen resolution trick but it didn't make any difference. I haven't been using a second monitor. I only have the MacBook Pro and an iPad but I don't use Photoshop on my iPad.
Since I have already upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.1, I'm wondering if I can/should try the steps you recommend on your blog regarding major system upgrades.
I'm very grateful for your knowledgable assistance.
Yes, absolutely you should. Also, I don't know if it's mentioned on that page, but there's a known bug between using cover flow view in windows in 10.9 and adobe products. Make sure your finder/open/etc windows are in list or icon view.
Thank you again for your help. I didn't know about the bug when using cover flow view but I've certainly experienced it. Thanks for letting me know it's not just a problem with my setup.
I've deleted all the older version PSE preferences from my library and rebooted my computer, then reloaded the PSE Organizer. No improvement to my problem although I trust it will be beneficial in other ways. I'm hoping this picture of my screen might prompt some thought from you about another possible solution. As you can see, there is no menu bar at the top with the important functions. And I cannot scroll upward to see other photos in this folder or other folders at the top of the list. Really frustrating and basically makes the Organizer unusable for me.
Much gratitude for your experience and generosity.
Thanks again for your willingness to follow this through. Squoodging it didn't help. But your question about the smallest resolution took me back to that step. I decided to repeat it but this time when I went from smallest back to largest, I decided to choose the second largest resolution and that did the trick! Clearly I can't use the largest resolution which I'd prefer but I'm satisfied with the compromise. You're the best!
