My Adobe reader was working fine under Windows 7 and all of a sudden it stopped working. It opens, starts opening a file and before it finishes opening the file, it closes. I have unstalled Adobe Reader XI using the Adobe Cleaner Tool provided on the community board website and reinstalled it from the Adobe.com website. I also went to the eula.exe file and clicked accept which was a suggestion on the community board. Please help
Other things you could try...
I've already updated to Reader 11.0.05
I am not able to even move down to the Security Enhanced Mode
When I was able to get to Protected Mode, it was OFF
I have no idea how to work with the Registry, I'm not that computer SAVY
As for the malware, I tried your link from the community board. I couldn't find the software on the website. I doubt it's malware because I use AVG and it protects against malware. My brother-in-law also just did a scan of my computer for viruses on Sunday and found nothing. I think there is a problem with your update and I would like to go back to version 10. Can you provide me with this version?
This took care of my problem when I installed the software; however, today the problem recurred and Reader was opening and closing again. I looked at my software and saw that the version of Adobe Reader that was installed was higher than that I downloaded and that it was installed today. I uninstalled it and reinstalled from this website and it once again fixed the problem. How do I turn off automatic updates. There is something wrong with your software updates!
You can disable automatic updates: Edit | Preferences | Updater.
I don't know why these problems occur; I have about half a dozen machines (Windows XP, Windows 7) that I update whenever an update becomes available, and I have never experienced any of these things.
I have Adobe ReaderX and have tried to use it, remove it and change it yet an error message appears 1057 can't find key. It started after the problem with adobe. Now I can't use it or remove it. I have windows 7 64 bit. Please help.
Try RevoUninstaller. It uninstalls all the files related to the software including the registry files. Look for malware or a Browser hi-jacker. I had a browser hijacker. I used AdvancedTechSupport to clean my computer but it cost $250, but it was worth it because they did a total system clean and optimization. My computer runs like new again.
