I used to be able to use my camcorder as a webcam on flash generated webcam sites, but now I cannot.

Will this be fixed in an update?

I have Mac Mavericks OS

What make and model is your webcam?
Also, does it still work with FaceTime, QuickTime or Skype?

A load of cams that worked with Mt. Lion are no longer supported in Mavericks.

I have a JVC camcorder, not a webcam though.

It works with skype and used to work with flash player in chatrooms which were run with flash.

There was an update and it stopped working, even is I download an older version of flash, the chat would freeze when they enabled my webcam.

I plug it into the usb, so skype can detect it as s-video or video composite.

Hi

No it does not show up in settings, although it used to.

Also I am sure that when I installed an older version of flash, it would show but if I selected it and turned on my cam, it would freeze the open chat window

Flash Player Uninstaller - That'll remove what you now have.

Flash Player 11.2.202.332 - That's a zip file with ALL builds of that version. Install the one you need from the folder.

You'll see "endless" update notifications with that version, though.

Yep...

Sadly, Macs are "Plug &Play" with almost EVERYTHING except.... wait for it.... webcams and video cameras.

There are 2 choices.

1. Apple's iSight (discontinued, and $$$$$$$ if you CAN find one)

2. A "high end" webcam from Logitech (C615 or C920 will work with Mavericks, but they're $60 and $80 respectively - BOTH are 1080p HD but the C920 has Stereo mics)
