Cannot download the flash player 12 installer on windows 8 64-bit for chrome

My flash player is 11.9.900.170, and I want to update it to 12. Everytime I use the installation steps from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ it hangs before it can finish downloading. I found this troubleshooting page: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows-rvm.html#main-pars... and finally managed to download the installer for browsers other than IE, however Windows says its not for this version of Windows.

My internet connection is working well with any other web pages and downloads, except when I'm streaming video based on the flash player....

Any ideas on how to get the correct installation files?

Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 or 8.1 is embedded by Microsoft and it CANNOT be updated outside of Windows Update.

IF you use Firefox, Opera or Safari, then you can use the offline installer: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Chrome, like IE has the Player plugin embedded and it can't be updated from here.
