I receive errors everytime I try to upload pictures from my memory card into lightroom. It takes me three or four times to get all of the images uploaded. This just started happening maybe 6 weeks ago and is really frustrating as I'm not doing anything differently than I have in the past.
Can't be read can mean a couple of things - it can mean they can't be read, or that they can't be written. Since they all eventually load, I'm guessing in this case it probably does mean it's have trouble reading them. Is this using a camera cable or a card reader? The latter is usually more reliable, although you could have a bad connection. Also double check how much space you have on your hard drives.
It's possible. Or it's possible that it's the camera cable gone bad. If you can test with another camera cable or card reader, you could rule that out. Or try with a different card.
But just try one test for me - set the destination folder to the desktop and see if it'll import happily to that location.
Great, if it works when importing to the desktop, it brings us back to an oddity with the destination. So where is your usual destination folder? Internal or external drive? If external, how's it connected, and how's it formatted?
I import them two places, on my harddrive and on an external harddrive. The external is connected with a USB. I import them all as RAW images and then convert to jpeg after editing is complete. This has been my standard process for years now, and I just started having issues with the card reader. Yesterday, I had to try it 12 times before they all uploaded (which they eventually did). I just ordered a new camera cord so maybe that will help.
Let us know how you get on with the new camera cord then.
If that doesn't do the trick, check the connection to your external drive - especially if it continues working correctly to the internal drive.
