Can someone please tell me why my dreamweaver freezes up for literally 10 mins or more whever I try to incorporate a icon rollover button into my website pages. Because having a rollover button on my website pages, whenever I click on any part of my page, my screen freezes up saying not responding and when i wait like 5 to 10 mins, the tasks will finally be done. Is this a adobe dreamweaver glitch or considered normal? If this keeps on going on it will take literally days just to do what is suppose to be a simple tasks of incorporating a rollover icon button. thanks
Are you working in Split view, Design view, or Live view?
If yes to any of those, I'd recommend working in Code view only and previewing in a Browser as you update things.
Sometimes if a script calls an external source, it can really bog down Live or Design view.
First, I would like to say thank you for responding to my question. To be quite honest, I had no idea that people would care enough to respond to my question so I would like to start out by saying thank you Mike for taking the time to help. I am working in split view only because of placements and seeing what I am doing. I am not a coder and I never really took the time to understand how to write codes to build a website is why I use dreamweaver given that it will do it for me. I have about 5 rollover icon images all with links. I have to copy and paste the same rollover image icon to over 200 pages. When I do that my system appears to be crashing in dreamweaver so I have no choice but to let it have time to update in which it takes a long long time. 200 pages with each movement copy and paste taking 5 to over 10 mins, this will literally take forever. Is this an issue of script calling out for external source? Thanks again Mike
Me? I wouldn't copy & paste it into all those pages.
I'd go to the spot where it is in the code. Copy it along with the line before and after, and then fo a "Find & Replace"... of the line before & after... and replace it with... the line, rollover, and line after... and do it "sitewide".
Much easier to use CSS and a background change. If you need a link for the rollover, use a transparent PNG and add the link to it. Even with an image map it's much less work, and much less to copy & paste.
Thank you Mike, you're suggestions are very helpful. I will try to find the place of the code and copy and paste it by using the find and replace method. In regards to the site wide, that is new to me and i will figure out where to find that feature. Thank you again for everything.
HI MIke, sorry to bother you again. In regards to the site wide change, do I have to manually select all the pages that I want in the find and replace section given that not all of my pages would need the content that I am replacing on rollovers? thank you again.
