Hey guys, I downloaded the free trial and i'm trying to import video from my camcorder into adobe but it says that there is a problem decompressing the audio/video file. Can you guys guess what I could have done wrong? Tried to find out the properties of the videos under "files" and then "find properties" but it says they are not available, yet if i import a picture it can tell me all the properties of the picture. Any help would be appreciated.

That's not quite it. From that panel, write down the locations of the Cache and the Database on the hard drive. Then close down PP and delete those folders with Windows Explorer or Finder. Then reopen the project and let the files rebuild.
Success! I did accidently delete the PP but after reinstalling it the file was repaired and is now working fine. Thanks Jim for the help and John T Smith and shooternz for the other information. Ive been doing video stuff for a little while but this is the first program that Im planning on buying, before i just use the limited video editing tools that came on my computer when i got it. With PP and After Effects I'm gonna do some really cool stuff, thanks you guys.
Ok, so PPro is working fine, but when i try and move a the clip from it to After Effects I have the same problem of file corruption. Should I do the same thing? The video clips are stored in the same place for both programs so shouldn't it have rebuilt the files too? When I import from PPro to AE I go to "file", "import", "adobe premiere pro project". Then this is what the clips look like when i try and import them.
Weird. The only thing I got is that PP was designed aroung DV for SD media. MPEG for SD is kind of an oddball format. Still, I would expect it to work just fine in both PP and AE.
You might try continuing this by posting a new thread in the After Effects forum, where the AE exports hang out.
