I am working on a multitrack audio file and using the "Silence Selected Clips in Time Selection" to quiet any background noise between pauses. 60-75% or the time it's working fine but the other 25-40% of the time it reacts in a super odd way and takes all of the markers it makes down to -∞ db and I have to fix it myself. I also should note that I am using Synergy to share the keyboard and mouse across screens (in case it is a stuck key issue or something). What is causing this, is it something I can fix?
Alright, here's an image of the problem. The two circled areas are the 4 markers it created at negative infinity rather than creating 2 markers at the current level and two at negative infinity and dropping that section down like it's supposed to. Someone please help, this is really slowing down my workflow. Thanks.
Yes, that area between the two (four actually, each of those has two stacked on each other) was the area I selected and then I did the "Silence Selected Clips in Time Selection" command and that happens a significant portion of the time with, as far as I can tell, no rhyme or reason.
I've been trying to reproduce this tonight, without luck. Have you tried this directly without using the mouse sharing software? You may also want to see if it happens if you turn Snapping off. (The shortcut key is "S".)
I have tried it in both Windows 7 and OS X and with and without the mouse sharing software, and with snapping both on and off. Maybe of note is that there are parts that I have silenced and then cut out part of after the fact, I'm not sure if that would affect it or not. Also, just in case it wasn't clear, I am doing this in multitrack view. Here's an example of some of the cuts:
Alright, so it appears the ripple deletes I had done in the files are the culprits, so note to anyone else having this problem, do all of your silencing before or after you do all of your cuts, if you do it in the middle it's going to get all janky.
Another question that has spawned from me having to do the cuts later, is there a way to automatically ripple delete all sections you have marked with a marker?
I'm afraid that it is not available in Audition CS6. It is one of the features that made it's appearance in Audion CC. Unfortunately some of the tutorials don't explicitly say which versions the feature is available in.
