Are you in PSE Organizer?  If so then select any jpg file and then do this:

File >> Export as new files

The file dialog window opens and just follow the online screen instructions.

If you are in Editor then all you need to do is to open any file and then:

    File >> Save as

Select the file type and follow the online screen instructions.  The Export function in Editor is not functioning because Save as is used by most experts.  I am not a PSE expert so rule me out from this.

You can read this dummies article:

    <http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-export-files-from-photosh op-elements-11.html>

    Good luck.

Do you mean Premiere Elements, the video editing program? If so Export is used only for the export of Titles. for all other activities, such as saving video files, you use Publish+Share.

If you do mean Photoshop Elements, the image editing program, Export is not used by Adobe - it is there for third party plug-in manufacturers to 'hook' into if they want.

All of what you are thinking of as 'export' functions are in Publish+Share> Computer.

    Video Hound,

The .PREL is the Project file. It is just an XML database with instructions and links to the Imported media Assets - nothing more.

As Neale points out, in PrE 11, one would "export" via the Publish+Share, to create an AV file from the Timeline. No conversion is needed, as that is what PrE does - takes that .PREL file, and creates an AV file per its instructions, through the links to the media Assets. Just follow Neale's instructions.

When you do a Save (or Save_As, etc.), it is ONLY the .PREL file, which is Saved. When you do the Publish+Share, you are "saving" that Timeline, as a discrete AV file, with the specs. of your choice. For more info on the Project file (PREL), see this Tips & Tricks article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3392837#3392837

Good luck, and if you need any clarification, or have additional questions (now that you are in the right forum), just ask.

Did you have an earlier version of Premiere Elements, like Premiere Elements 7 where there was an export route via File Menu/Export/Movie as well as an export route Share/Personal Computer/ with many choices under that such as MPEG, AVI, Windows Media, QuickTime and others? If so, the Premiere Elements workspaces have changed a lot since then. But the principles remain the same. Just need to find where Adobe put the features as the versions moved on.

Have you said what Windows operating system your Premiere Elements 11 is running on?

Lots of basic details of setting up the project, editing your imports, and editing choices are needed to assure that you get a high quality end product.

So information on what you want to edit and how you want it viewed after export are important.

Hoping to contribute to your thread.

    Please see

    Publish+Share

    Computer

    AVCHD

    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30

set the Save In: to the hard drive save location of choice and hit the Save button in that export area.

But all that assumes that you have set the project up correctly for a 1920 x 1080 source.

    1. You or the program set the project preset (project settings) to match the properties of what you are putting on the Expert workspace Timeline. That action will direct the program to set up the right space in the Edit Mode monitor for editing purposes (no black borders et al).

    2. After editing, then Publish+Share/Computer/ where you make sure decisions of export choices.

If you let us know your project settings and source media properties, we will fine tune the details for import as well as export settings.

    Thanks.
