Object Rotation, transparancy, size and Movement

Feb 17, 2014 12:11 PM

Hi there, I new to all of this, and I just started learning flash.

So here is my doubts ... my teacher is does teacher that gives you tutorials to watch and does not now what to do or say, and because of that I am with huge question here.

She asked ... the class ... to do a project were we use action script and buttons to do the things on the discussion title(Rotation, Transparency, movement and size).

So far i managed to create the buttons and stuff, but here is were I star having difficulty's.

I have:

2 buttons - 1 for increasing the size and the other for decreasing the size;

2 buttons - 1 for rotating right and the other to rotate to the left

2 buttons - 1 for moving to the right and the other to the left

2 buttons - 1 for increasing the transparency and the other to decrease the transparency

So far i know that i need to covert all buttons to symbols - class button, and the image i am to apply the changes to Movie clip

I also know that, i need to use a function called _rotation to rotate the image, but that is the only thing

So i was hoping that there was someone willing to teach me how to do this stuff or apoint me in the right direction.

With Regards TuiSilva

    The first thing you need to work out is which version of Actionscript you will be working with.  You mentioned you know "_rotation"... that is Actionscript 2 (AS2).  AS2 is the older version.  AS3 is the newest and in AS3 it is just "rotation".

    As far as having someone teach you, that is what your teacher is supposed to be for, so push back and get some of what she knows to work for you.

    Another good resource for learning is to search Google using terminology that matches what you want to know... such as "AS2 _rotation tutorial"... searching with those words could lead you to what you want to know.  Try to always include a reference to the version of Actionscript in your search.

    You're welcome.  If you still have questions, feel free to ask.

    A word of warning.... if your teacher teaches you to place code on buttons using things like

        on(release){

              mc._rotation += 5;

        }

    (the problem being the line with "on()")... just be aware that she is teaching you something that is not a good practice and it is not allowed in AS3.

    The better way to code in AS2 is to assign an instance name to your button and put/assign all the code in the timeline

         btnName.onRelease = function(){

              mc._rotation += 5;

         }
