I'm using CS6 and indesign is missing from my tools menu. I checked startup scripts in preferences and it is checked. I tried unchecking it and restarting it then rechecking it and I also tried resetting my preferences when starting bridge. Running OSX 10.8.5 and Bridge 126.96.36.199
P.S. I feel like this should be an easy fix and an easy thing to search for but I've searched extensively and the only thing I've found is the question asked occasionally. I've not found anything for CS6 and I've not found a solution.
ID has never been part of the Tools menu to my knowledge but you can place files using the menu File / Place / inDesign.
A better way would be to create a collection in Bridge from the files you want or might want to use in your ID project. Then in ID use the Mini Bridge Panel and select the collection you created for this project. Now you can drag and drop form Mini Bridge thumbnail panel.
Hello, according to http://indesignsecrets.com/missing-the-indesign-contact-sheet-bridge-t o-the-rescue.php , the bridge contact sheets function in the tools menu has been removed circa CS4, and is replaced by the output module.
Yes. I ended up solving this on my own but I did want to revisit it for anyone else who finds this message. I can't believe it had been that long since I'd generated a conatct sheet like this but, for what it's worth, this change is not for the better. Previously you were able to use the tools in indesign to control the quality and file size of the final pdf. The new way of doing it is certainly faster but it gives much less control and I ended up with a 50mb contact sheet when presenting around 150 images
Anyway, this is how you do it in later versions of CS http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS42C3020A-DAD1-4f92-80 14-012263F3A51D.
Also, the reason Indesign and After Effects were greyed out when I was trying to use the place command is because I wasn't trying to place a single image I was trying to make a contact sheet. Meaning I had multiple images selected. You can only place one image at a time so the place command is greyed out.
