Not a veteran (well, not in experience lol!) - what you're doing wrong is
going about using Dreamweaver like you would Word or as if it's WYSIWYG -
it's not.
Have a look at this
http://www.w3schools.com/ on the left, learn X/HTML and Learn CSS.
There *are* good, ready-made templates available if you want to go down this
road, but without a grounding in HTML and CSS, you will continue to wonder
if it's all worth it (o:
