To be honest i would say most webdesigners would use flash to convert video. If you dont have a recent copy there are plenty of converters out there! I havent used any myself so I cannot comment on how good they are. Once converted you can use a .flv player such as jw player to play the file on the webpage.

if your stuck you could always upload your video to youtube or daily motion and then use the embed link it provides to add this to your webpage!

Riva flv encoder (PC only)

Swish Video has more bells & whistles than the other two

Coffee Cup Video Player. NOTE: My codecs don't support the conversion
feature on this tool. But everything else works well.

Thanks. I took a quick look at them. I could be partial to the Swish program
because I've used Swish programs for years.

Do you have any clear-cut preference?

All depends on what you need. Different tools for different projects and
systems.

RIVA is priced right for the occasional user (free).

For batch conversion, Ultra-Flash is handy.

If you need to add watermarks or logos to videos, get Swish Video.

If you need to display several clips or chapters in a single player with
(playlists), Coffee Cup is a time saver for me but with the caveat mentioned
above.

Whichever one you choose, try before you buy to make sure it works on your
system.

Thanks! I don't mind paying the $40 or so since I'll probably wind up doing
a bunch of videos for this client's site. I'll check 'em out to see which
works best and feels best.

Do you use a specific FLV player to embed them or just use CS4's?

Flash player 9+ supports h264.

Change h.264 video extension to .flv for flv.

Whichever floats your boat. Swish and Coffee Cup have nicer player skins
IMHO. But DW is fine.

Tried one using RIVA since it's free and it worked like a charm. Unless I
need some features it doesn't have (like apparently it doesn't embed any
coding for the size of the video) I'll probably stick with that.
