I developed the missing feature: a Bridge extension script that create a panel showing the current image histogram.
I tested only with: Windows XP/Windows 7 and Adobe Bridge CS5 (4.0.3.9), CS5.1 (4.1.0.54) (PSCS5 32/64bit)
The project is available at http://www.maurodalfreddo.it/software/mdbr-histogram or https://sourceforge.net/projets/mdbrhistogram
I hope this is useful.

Thanks for sharing, Mauro.
Unfortunately, I can't get it to work on my computer (Windows 7 64-bit, CS5, Bridge 4.0.5.11).
When I start bridge, after copying MDBrHistogram.jsx and md5.jsx to my AppData scripts folder, I get:
"Javascript error (C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS5\Startup Scripts\MDBrHistogram.jsx:384): Invalid image data"
or something very similar if I use the jsxbin instead.
I do get a new tab in Preferences.
