I got rid of the Updater error message by doing the following:

1. Go into C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Updater
2. In there you will find an XML file named - AdobeESDGlobalApps.xml
3. Open/Edit it with Notepad or some text or HTML editor
4. There will be various sections in there for each Adobe application. Within each section you will see an entry similar to - <IsEnabled>1</IsEnabled>.
5. Change the "1" value to a "0" in each section.
6. Save the file.

I think this turns off the Auto Update feature for each app.

go into
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe

Look for the updater folder, make sure it's not "updater5"

If it is, take the 5 off the folder name and it'll work after that

You can bypass the Adobe Updater by getting updates from the Adobe site. (If you know what you are looking for it helps.)
