Startup - Application Error

Apr 13, 2009 3:30 PM

Just loaded Acrobat 9.1 on a WINXP CE system.  Can not get Acrobat to open.  It always goes to this error.

"Font Capture: AcRoRD32.exe - Application error"

"The Exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007e) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812a5b."

Help anyone know how to make 9.1 work??

If you loaded AA9, then why do you have Reader installed. Anyway, go to the tasks list (ctrl-alt-del) and turn off AcRoRD32. Then try running Acrobat again.

    Oh OK thanks.

I also found that version 8 works fine.  There must be a bug in version 9.

    Thanks

Interesting.... I have found the same to be true and I am using Windows XP Embedded.   Reader 8 works ok but Reader 9 crashes with the Font Capture Application Error.   We Support 2 versions of XPE on 2 different motherboards and Reader 9 works on one but not the other.   We will continue to investigate and I'll post if we make any headway.  Please do the same.

We've been installing Adobe Reader 7 in Windows XP embedded OS on our machine. It works fine. Recently, our counterparts in the USA mentioned that Adobe Reader does not support XP Embedded. Is this true?

Not exactly.   8 works fine for us. We have 2 different versions of

XP Embedded we deploy (different motherboards)  9 works on one but not the

other.   Could be a configuration issue on our side

The point was that Acrobat and Reader are two DIFFERENT products. The Reader forum is not here. The way you asked the question we understood you to say Acrobat did not work. For Reader questions you need to ask in that forum. Some here may know the answer, but only from playing around with Reader themselves.
