mac flash player: local security settings do not "take"

I'm trying to listen to audio feeds at mlb.com on a mac.  MLB's tech support needs me to adjust certain flash settings such as local storage sizes, global web settings, etc.  The problem is, none of the changes they are asking me to make will "stick" ... they keep reverting back to the defaults.  I tried ininstalling/reinstalling flash and running "permissions repair" on my mac, but still no luck.

 

If it helps any, mlb's player is also giving me an erreor message of "flash shared objects must be enabled for this application to run properly".  I've never done anything to disable shared objects, so i don't see why that should be the problem.  It seems more likele there is a  broaderpermissions problem with my flas install that is screwing everything up.  Help?!
