Application Error Memory could not be read(Please Help)

Hi

 

I need help.

 

I am using Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended Student Edition.

My computer is Windows XP

I continue to get the error  Photoshop exe  Aplication Error

Instructions at oxofa92c5b  sometimes is states oxofc42c5b

reference memory oxoooooo28 Memory could not be read

 

Cancel or debug.  Then  it shuts down.not matter what you click.

 

It does this after I get the picture open and when I click on different tools.

 

This is newly installed on my computer and   newly bought program.

 

Help would be greatly appreciated.

    32 bit or 64 bit xp?

    How much ram installed?

    How much hard drive space do you have remaining?

    The program is up to date.  I installed the current update

     

    .It is a 32 bit xp

     

    it states XP Professional  2002 Service pack 3

     

    The  computer system is an Intel 4 cpu 2.93 ghz with .99 GB ram

     

    I have 78.3 Gb left on my hard drive

    The program is up to date.  I installed the current update

    With only 1 gig of ram installed I would by more ram.

    Does the crash report say what module the crash occurred in?  (usually something.DLL)

    No it didn't say anything other than the memory could not be "read".

    I will try to upgrade the ram.

    Those "bad memory" errors are usually caused by one of two things

     

    One (fairly rare) is an actual bad memory stick

     

    Two (most often) is a bad device driver... these are really hard to narrow down to the actual cause

     

    Some things to try...

     

    Go to the motherboard vendor and make sure you have the latest device drivers for your brand/model motherboard

     

    Also make sure you have the latest device drivers for your brand/model video display card

     

    Finally, any other device drivers you had to install

    memory could not be read error is a DLL versioning conflict error. it's looking for something in a dll and you have a newer (or older) version of that dll somewhere that isn't binary compatable with the version the app is looking for. hence chris' question.

     

    I will try to upgrade the ram.

     

    it's not a ram error.

     

    try uninstalling and reinstalling photoshop, it's update and any plugins you have installed. (install any plugins before the photoshop update).
