spaces disappear after reflow

Aug 6, 2009 6:34 AM

hello forum,

I use Acrobat Distiller Server 8.1.0, Built: 2007-09-0.

We have a problem with the PDF documents it creates. When a PDF is 'reflowed' using F4 in acrobat, all spaces are disappeared. In other words, all paragraphs show as a very long word.

I have checked all distiller options (we have not changed the default value), but I could not find one that could cause this problem.

As a side note: when we distill the same document with a very old windows distiller server, the resulting PDF has not the mentioned problem.

Do you know if this is an issue with that particular version, or is this something I can configure with the distiller options?

I appreciate your help.

Ruud

One of our customers has a similar problem.

    - Documents build with an older Distiller on Windows (version 4.05) are OK.

    - Documents build with an newer Distiller on Linux (version 8.1.0) show deleted spaces.

Although this is not with all fonts / text. Some text is displayed correctly.

The spaces are really gone. If they would be very small you might still have them if you copy the text to a text editor. But in the text editor there are no spaces. Since the space does not seem to be part of the glyphs stored in the pdf file it looks like there is another problem.

I have tested it also on Mac OS with version 8.0.0 and experience exactly the same problems.
