How do I turn off the virus adobe updater ?

Im considering the adobe updater as virus* and I want to shut it off whitout entering registrykeys.

Ideas and tips appreciated.

 

( * A virus is a software performing unwanted actions at your equipment.)

    You can set this in the Adobe updater application.

    In Adobe Reader execute Help > Check for Updates...

    If you have Adobe Reader 9.1.3, then you have that functionality.  I have it, and I have checked it off, because I know when new updates become available.

    Execute Help > Check for Updates then you will get the button for the preferences.

    If, for some corporate reason, your Group Policy has removed the Check for Updates option from Help, you can access it by opening Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater6 and run Adobe_Updater.exe, then select Preferences.
