I had CS4 installed and running on Leopard before I had my laptop stolen.
I bought another macbook and backed up everything from my time machine. Unfortunately my CS4 didn't get saved. Naturally I tried installing CS4 again. I installed everything, only this time, on Snow Leopard. After it was done installing, I get an error message stating "Licensing for this product has stopped working"
I tried the licensing repair script from adobe. The thing is, the "Flexnet Service" folders are not there in the first place. They are missing completely, both from Application Support folder and the Preferences folder in the "Library" folder.
So now I am at a loss. No Flexnet folders meaning I do not have all the licensing folders, no wonder my CS4 is not working. I tried reinstalling many times but Flexnet stuff does not get installed. I am wondering what the problem is.
Much help is appreciated.
Hello,
Hope you could find this helpful...
1) Uninstall ALL Adobe products.
2) MAKE A BACKUP!
3) Delete all references to Adobe and FLEXnet in /Library /System /Users
(To do this execute:
sudo find /Library /System /Users -name "FLEXnet*" -exec rm -rf {} \; -prune
sudo find /Library /System /Users -name "FLEXnet*" -exec rm -rf {} \; -prune
)
4) Run disk utility and run "repair permissions" on the disk.
5) Reboot. (Maybe not needed, but for good measure, you might as well.)
6) Re-install the Adobe products.
7) Re-enter the license numbers.

Do one or more of the following solutions. Note, Adobe Trial Software that displays the error can not be restored to run.
Important: The patch applies to Creative Suite 3 or 4 products, Acrobat 8 or 9, Photoshop Elements 6 or 8, Director and Technical Communication Suite. If your issue was not resolved on the first attempt, run the patch again and enter option 0, when prompted to do so.

The journaling file exists only under specific circumstances where a client is accessing the database file with certain options enabled. If the file does not exist, continue to the next solution.
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache Adobe applications are not supported on an OS formatted with a case-sensitive file system. If you attempt to install an Adobe application on a case sensitive volume such as a UFS, HFS+ case sensitive (HFSX) or SMB formatted drive, you get an error that the file system of the setup drive is not supported. Only Acrobat 9 doesn't display such error message and allows you to install the application, but attempting to launch Acrobat 9 results in the error "Licensing for this product has stopped working (error code 130:9)." The drive needs to be reformatted to a non-case-sensitive file system.
To check if MAC OS X is formatted with a case-sensitive file system :
Alternatively, use the Disk Utility to check the file system:
Adobe Technical Support can obtain logs from your machine to determine additional information about the failure. Contact Adobe Technical Support if the information provided has not helped to resolve your issue.
The Flexnet folders/files required to run Adobe applications can get corrupted, or have permission settings problems, if moved from one machine to another, or through a system restore from Time Machine. Flexnet service licensing failures can't be resolved by re-installating the appliaction, nor will the Adobe CS3 or CS4 Clean Scripts solve this problem. If permissions issues prevented the FLEXnet licensing service from launching, accessing its data, or communicating with Adobe processes, the licensing failure is expected.
I do not even have the Flexnet folders. I've tried removing all adobe files and that has not worked.
their licensing permission script does not work because the script cannot find the licensing folders to fix.
simply states that *licensing files not present in the script.
so I am lost completely. I've tried removing the cache, and ive been trying all the adobe solutions. it does not seem to work at all.
im going to try resetting the OS tonight.
I have encountered a similar problem. After upgrading to MAc OSX 10.7 (LION) non of my CS4 applications work. I get the 150:30 error and cannot find any FlexNet Publisher files anywhere including the hidden library files. I've downloaded the license repair tool and tried to launch it. It states it needs POWER PC to run, which 10.7 does not support. I've been working with Tech support but they keep telling me to run the license repair app which DOES NOT WORK! At the end of my rope here!!!
Same here. I have transfered my complete hard drive to my new Mac (running Lion) with Migration Assistant. Everything worked flawlessly, but when I try to open an Adobe program I get the 150:30 error. I already deleted the Flexnet folder, tried to run the Repair Program just to be told that it needs a PowerPC to run.
The funny thing is that every other software is running fine on the new system.
I have the same issue.
Photoshop CS4 was running fine on Lion but after a Time Machine restore it is showing the same error. I've tried repairing permissions and the repair tool says it's PowerPC only so not sure what to do. I've tried calling Adobe's activation hotline but they say I need to call back tomorrow when their Technical Support is open.
For some of us, the working week starts Sunday. So much for paid/licensed software – pirates are able to run their software with less hassle!
had the same problem here with PSE 8 after system recovery from time machine backup. I also updated to Lion couple of month ago. I also tried all of the listed solutions on the adobe support pages but none of them worked. The folder FLEXNet_Publisher in the systems hard drives folder Preferences, which it says to be deleted does not exist and was only found in the application support folder. I also tried all of the other solutions listed on this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/error-licensing-stopped-mac- os.html and had more or less the same problems, it did not work.
I found the following solution myself by doing this:
go to the folder [hard drive]/Library/Application Support/FlexNet Publisher and make a copy of this folder
then go to the folder [hard drive]/Library/Preferences and paste this copied folder there.
Then try again to start your application and now it should show you the licenceregistry window. Type in your serial number and confirm. Then the application starts and runs properly. So it was on my system.
@trwillson,
hope it still works after restarting your computer. I unfortunately had to experience, that after restart the problem appeared again. So I deleteted the FLEXNet_Publisher folder from my systems library folder and copied it again from the application support folder. Seems there is something else wrong, or one of the registry files is damaged. But you can use this solution everytime, and it's not taking so much time to delete and copy a folder, to get the application running. Maybe one day there is a solution that works! ![]()
Shows you what I know. Restart brought the problem back. So I thought I'd build a script that I could just double click to copy the directory. It copies the directory but does not fix the problem. When I use the Finder to copy the directory (and authenticate as an admin) then it works. And it's only good for one run of the application. On the second run the problem returns.
Beautiful.
And why do I use CS4? That was the last version of Adobe Soundbooth that was included in the Creative Suite.
Just beautiful.
Note actually there's a Creative Suite 5 version of Soundbooth as well; Audition replaced it in CS5.5 circa April 2011.
There's more. Just copying the folder (again, the is Mac OS X Lion) isn't enough. I had to delete the /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/ folder. Start Soundbooth and get two errors. The first one says "Licensing for the product has stopped working." and includes the 150:30 error. Click OK. The second one says, "Your license could not be validated. Soundbooth must now shut down." Click OK. THEN copy /Library/Application Support/FLEXnet Publisher/ to /Library/Preferences/.
This solution worked two straight times!
I finally deleted all PSE applications, including CS4 (that always worked fine) and installed PSE8 again. Now the 150:30 error appears not any longer. I was not sure about doing this, because I somewhere red, that PSE8 can't reinstalled anymore on a 64bit system, because it was made for 32bit and all the fixing updates are missing. Gave it a try anyway because it sucked too much, alwasy to delete and copy folders to get the app started. Now the problem seems to solved.
Here's the situation. Failed Hard drive. Installed new HD. Installed Lion 10.7.x. Restored system from Time Machine Backup.
**** NOW **** Adobe Licence error issue, Error 150:30
Found this solution (detailed below) on another forum (CNET) - Not here on Adobe Systems Forum of course - hmmm - tried all the other fixes. None worked. The one BELOW did work. Hope this helps anyone dealing with the same issue as me.
1. Download the mac License Recovery App from here (whcih does NOT natively run in Lion OS):
http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing_download_eula.html
2. Use Terminal App (in Applications/Utilities) to locate and run the "install_fnp.sh" file in "LicenseRecovery/mac_install_11.6.1" inside the DMG.
Note: You'll need to know some basic Unix commands to navigate to the folder (i.e. change directory which is "cd folder_name/sub_folder_name/" and "List files" which is "ls"
3. Once you are in the folder LicenseRecovery/mac-install_11.6.1/ you will see a file called "install_fnp.sh" . To run a sh file in theTerminal App, type "sudo sh install_fnp.sh"
4. Enter your password at the sudo warning and the script should take care of the rest.
5. Open any CS4 app and your back to work!
Again, this is what worked for me so it may not work for you, but the 150:30 tells me that the license service isn't working, odds are because something used to require rosetta to install.

Indesign cs3 licensing has stopped working ... *** SAME ISSUE AS ABOVE ***
I have InDsign CS3 from my Design Standard Suite (which did not come with my CS4 Web Premium Suite when I upgraded) and needed to do the same thing as listed above to get InDesign CS3 to run....
With the exception of running the "sudo sh install" for the file in "mac_install_lucknow" folder. Once I did so, then ID CS3 loaded without the license warning.
Peace out.
Hi all, I don't know if anyone else is still having these issues when trying to install CS4 on a recent iOS version but I am. I seem to be able to install the product fine but when I try to run illustrator I get the error:
Licensing for this product has stopped working
Error: 5
All the other programs (Bridge,Extension Manager) bundled with CS4 work fine.
I am running OS X 10.8.3 and have tried every solution posted in this forum.
Any help or advice would be great.
thanks!
