In Adobe Streamline it was possible to trace objects with a "center-line" option. I do not see this in Live Trace. Can anyone direct me on how to do this? I would like to trace text but when I trace it it is in the form of a hollow outline. I would like the Trace option to average the points/outlines and give me a single-path-per-letter-curve solution as opposed to outlines.
Nope, doesn't exist. Trace conventionally, then use Offset Paths to create insets and clean up. For some letters also creating one step blends from inner to outer contour works, creating a path inbetween.
Thank you for both of your posts. I am glad you helped me find a solution rather than feeling that I spent all that money on a CS with less functionality than its predecessors.
Au Contraire Mylenium, you probably know many many more times the things that I know concerning Adobe's lineup. It's just that the interface showed you exactly what to expect when choosing certain methods. CorelDraw's CorelTrace program is pretty sturdy too, offering a direct centerline option. But I guess one has to get used to new methods here and there. I currently don't even know where my Streamline box and disc is and I'm not sure it runs on 64-bit Windows Vista. (which might be why I haven't installed it yet--either that or I never got around to doing it). Thanks for your help again.
