tools for backing out / redoing work once a menu has become corrupt

Give us a chance to recover SOME of our work once Encore corrupts a menu!  I have put multiple days in 4

times in the last year with CS4 only to have each large slide show corrupt the menus.  They were menus chained together with the acceptable number of slides in each slideshow.

    I have the same problem. Been working hard for 3 days with a menu and a submenu. My first project !

     

    And suddenly when I tried to open the project the project-file was corrupt. Actually it must been one of the other files that Encore saves because I downloaded a copy that was 2-3 hours older but I got the same problem, Ecore was hanging when it started up.

     

    So if we could have same system with automatic backups or manual that you start up now and then and can go back to when a problem occurs!

    Actually it must been one of the other files that Encore saves because I downloaded a copy that was 2-3 hours older but I got the same problem,

    Probably did not go far enough back.  Are you saying that you saved a copy?  Or a "save as"?  The "save as" method is the only way I think you can approximate a backup method.  You can copy the project file and the folders, but that does not take into account media cache files outside, nor the assets not in those folders.

     

    I think 2 methods should be added: 1) a "save a copy" and 2) a "reconstruct" option.  By reconstruct (what is a better name?) I mean having Encore do a review of all of its hidden files, and clean up, reestablish links, etc.

     

    The only method availabe to you currently is the "do over."  If you've spent days on a project, much of it has probably been work that has changed, or that you would do much more quickly if you do it over.  That has been my method!

    I have an autobackup system with WD My Book with two harddrives so from there I found an older  .ncor file. But I could not find all the folders and files to match this .ncor file because My Book only put the date and no time for the backup! Yeah that is so stupid!  So I have to find another backup system. 

     

    Well, I did the new menu and submenues in around 4 hours including creating the DVD so it was quicker.

    First time I had to watch a trainingvideo parallell to my work to learn how to do it.

     

    But back to subject about saving.

     

    In Premiere Pro you can autosave every 20 minutes and have x number of copies. That is very useful when you make a mistake or when the system goes down.

     

    So if the smart technicians in Adobe could do something similar, just to be able to go back to last copy or 3rd latest copy that would be great.
