an unknown error occurred

I'm working in Adobe illustrator   CS4 with a windows 7. I tried to open an Illustrator and start receive the message "an unknown error occurred". I can't open any file or create a new file, keep given the same message. You paying such money for those programs and when you need to do work, it's not working. Please HELP

    Oh yes this might be due to the fact that you might not have default printer selected or it is set to autmatic when it should be to amnual.

     

    I recall reading about the issue and had a link to a tech note butI cannot find it.

     

    You might also have t install CS 4 as 32bit.

     

    Someone that is more familiar with Windows will come along and give you more info.
