Hi All,
I have experienced what I think is a bug in PPro CS5 on Win7. The application works great, but the exe process continues to run after I close the application. The process uses about 26% CPU, and if I then launch PPro and close it again, another exe process continues to run and the CPU usage is doubled. The orphan processes never quit by themselves, I have to manually kill them, nor does the CPU usage increase. The processes just continue to run. The behavior also occurs in Soundbooth CS5, but no other CS5 applications as far as I can tell. Anyone else have this issue?

I have the same problem with Premiere Pro CS5. Did not try soundbooth. It just keeps creating new processes and when I exit premiere pro it does not close them. They stay working and keep using cpu as if it's still opened. I need to end ti manualy. Something is wrong. HELP!

It works fine on my AMD PC, but not on MacPro 2.1 (BootCamp, Win7x64, Intel dual 4-core).
In another thread on this subject, a user indicated he did some maintenance work to his system, after which the process no longer continued to run. One of the things he did was upgrade the video driver to the latest release, 197.45. I did that this morning and problem solved. The release notes for this driver update indicate some changes to be more compatible with Premiere CS5. I also noticed that the CPU usage on startup and when the application is idling is less than before.
Similar was reported for PrElements 8. Two things took care of it: updated ATI and nVidia drivers, and then a patch to PrE 8.0.1, which changed the video driver interface (plus a few other tweaks). Glad that the updated video drivers are helping in your case.
Thanks for reporting and good luck,
