error 213:10

May 17, 2010 12:53 PM

After installing a trial Flash Builder 4 windows standalone version, I get error box saying "A problem has occured with the licensing of this product..." with error code 213:10.

Can someone shed light on how to fix it?

Thanks

    Hi,

Sorry that you're unable to launch successfully.

If you look in your temp folder, you should find a file named amt3.log. If you'll zip up that log file and attach it to this thread, that should provide enough clues to figure out what's wrong.

Thanks for sending your amt3.log. The log is showing several different types of errors, so I forwarded it to our licensing team to help diagnose and solve the problem. I hope to have an answer back from them by Thursday,  if not sooner.

One thing I noticed is that the log file describes an FB4 Plug-in installation, but you mention installing the standalone version at the beginning of this thread. Did you install both FB4 Standalone and FB4 Plug-in on the same machine, and if so, did they both show the same error?

The licensing team recommended uninstalling the product, and then reinstalling it again. From your description above though, it sounds as if you've already tried that once before.

Here's an alternate way to uninstall that might make a difference:

    - uninstall all copies of FB4 standalone and FB4 Plug-in the usual way, via Add/Remove Programs

    - download the CS5 Clean Script from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html

    - run the CS5 Clean Script, and make sure that all copies of FB4 have been uninstalled

    - reboot your machine before re-installing FB4

    - when re-installing, use FB4 Standalone again instead of FB4 Plug-in.

Another thing I noticed in your log file is that you're installing to drive F. Is that a local drive, or a network mapped location?

Also, if you have enough space on your system drive for FB4, see if installing FB4 to the same drive your system is on will help.

Forgot to ask before if you're running WinXP, Vista, or Win7? If you're running WinXP, be sure you're logged in as a machine Administrator when installing, and during the first launch of the product.

I realize that it's been a while since this subject was posted but let me ask; I am getting the same error when trying to run Photoshop CS5 extended. I had a solid state drive crash and it was replaced. i was going through the very painful process of reinstalling everything and Photoshop is by far the hardest with all the plug-ins I use. I tried uninstalling many of the most recently installed plug-ins to no avail. I just noticed that simultaneously with the Windows Explorer keeps crashing. I really, really, really don't want to reinstall Win7 (643-bit) and start all over again. I am getting no work done in PS. PS CS5 has been casusing probelms for me since I instaled it. Can anyone help me?

    Hi Rita,

There's a KB article here, with an entry suggesting that error 213 is related to the update server:

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/834/cpsid_83481.html

That article recommends removing temp files to solve the problem, so that might be worth a try.

If that doesn't resolve it, you might want to contact Adobe support. This is a user forum (for Flash Builder), so you'll probably get better support for Photoshop from the regular support team:

    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/

Although the error message implies that Photoshop is the problem it turns

out that Windows Explorer was. I had to eventually reinstall Win7.

Installing it as an update over an existing Win7 install acts like  repair

used to in other versions of Windows, they just don't tell you that.
