Premiere Pro 1.5 / Quicktime .MOV help

May 27, 2010 12:54 PM

I'm using an old version 1.5 and it doesn't import .MOV files.  I was hoping to find an update or plugin that would allow me to import MOV files but I didn't find anything.  Am I out of luck or does someone know of a fix?  Thanks

Ralph

Usually, the installation of Apple's QT Player will allow for the Import of many MOV files. Note: some possible MOV CODEC's are not available for the PC. MOV is but a wrapper, and can contain a lot of different CODEC's.

    Good luck,

Use the FREE http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to find out what is inside that MOV wrapper... and report back with details if needed

    You DO have Quicktime installed?

If not, or if the one you have is old, you might want to go to Apple's Quicktime page and download a later version

According to what I've read, you may want to click Apple's link for an older version and install 7.5.5 instead of the current 7.6.6

    Ralph,

Glad that part of it got handled, well sort of.

I would take a look at this new MOV file in G-Spot, and see what it says about it. As mentioned, there can be some Mac-only CODEC's inside that wrapper, and they can be the issue. Let us know what G-Spot says about that file.

This ARTICLE will give you a bit more background on "wrappers."

Did G-Spot give you the CODEC used and did it indicate that they were installed?

    Good luck,

The thing is, video from a still camera just does not edit well in Premiere

Since it is from a Kodak, what does their web site offer?
