So.. I have CS5 Master Collection. I was setting up a site for a client with Dreamweaver templates. If I ever click on LiveView my screen begins to flicker, my graphics card drivers fail (G-Force 1Gig Graphics card) and eventually my machine crashes. I wouldn't blame the graphics card, since this is the only time I have ever seen it crash.
I just built this monster computer.. i7 chip, 6gigs of RAM, Windows 7 Professional, 2 1TB drives in a RAID array.
This and many other crashes I've been reading about in recent days at other sites is making me concerned about CS5's general stability.
Anyone else having similar problems? Is this "fixed" in the new patch?
Check your crash log files. What do they say? From what you're describing, to me it sounds like failing hardware (my hunch would be a bad or failing capacitor on your graphics card). But I don't know for sure. It could potentially be the way Dreamweaver calls up webkit for LiveView which triggers a bug on the graphics card. Are you running the latest drivers for your graphics card?
I know, I know, questioning the card...but with what you've described, it seems the most likely link to your issues.
I will review the log files when I'm back in my office.
I was more interested to see if this was happening to others before I began making further changes to my system. It just seems odd that in the past few months this is the only way I have ever seen this type of crash.
I'll let you know what I discover...
I have a similar problem but I'm on an iMac running OS 10.6.4 and only Dreamweaver crashes, not the whole computer. LiveView is completely unusable for me. It's not worked once since I installed CS5 (I have design premium, btw). I feel like I must be missing something. Is there a fix or patch I've overlooked?
EDIT: Same thing happens in CSS Inspect, too.
Hi, using imac running OS 10.6.6. Dreamweaver CS5 kept crashing as soon as i clicked on live view or live code. But only when connected to the internet.
Adobe and Apple thought there was a conflict of software. After uninstalling software one by one I found it was the HP software either drivers or free HP photo app. I did a basic reinstall , no extras, like customer updates or photo software. Now dreamweaver works fine.
I hope this helps someone because it drove me nuts!!
I had the exact same problem - iMac running 10.6.6. Dreamweaver CS5 had run with no issues then started crashing when any of the "live" functions were selected - live view, live code or inspect.
I had been pulling my hair out then stumbled upon your reply to the posting here Dreamerz123.
It then dawned on me that I had recently performed an update on my HP printer software and had mistakenly allowed the update to also install this photo editing or viewing software. I had intended to uninstall it but got sidetracked.
Anyway to cut a long story short - I unistalled the software, rebooted my mac, opened dreamweaver, loaded a file I'd been working on, hit live view and voilà - working again ![]()
So I can confirm that there is a software conflict between the free photo viewing/editing software HP offer (sorry I can't recall it's exact name) and Dreamweaver CS5.
So happy - I finally found others that were having the same issue - any of the live view features made Dreamweaver crash on my system - I have Lion but has been doign thiis before I upgraded to LIon....
I uninstalled HP Photo Creation App and without even having to reboot - loaded a php page into Dreamweaver and finally I see what live view is supposed to do! It works! Thanks so much!!![]()
Adobe really should post this in known issues would help a lot of people - anyone with an HP Printer - I just got one a few months ago when i bought a new macbook pro at the apple store. They gave me this HP Wireless printer at a good discount to go with the new purchase. The software installs when setting it up. .......

The RocketEngine plug-in is included with HP Photo Creations. To disable this plug-in:
My CS5.5 Version just recently started crashing when switching to Live View. I have no HP software on my system, and can find no reference to the Rocket Engine plugin as reported.
I removed all of my internet plugins to a separate location, then tried again, and there was still no resolution.
I noticed that there are several here that have the same issue even where there is no Rocket Engine plugin.
It would be nice if Adobe would fix this once and for all.
Chesley - I am at 10.7.2 and am still expiencing the crash. It was working fine, but has recently started crashing for some reason. I had installed a couple of new progams recently, so I went back and removed those from the system, but that didn't change anything.
FWIW - It seems to be crashing on some PHP-coded sites. When I load a pure HTML site up and work on it, it seems fine. Some PHP sites seem to be just fine also. Almost all of my PHP sites have some significant JS/jQuery things in them also. On those that DO crash, I get a warning message just above the workspace that says "An unknown error occurred while discovering dynamically-related files" Since it's "unknown" obviously I can't fix it. If anyone that provide me a methodology for THAT I'd be appreciative.
Did you try using AppCleaner to uninstall the apps you added that started the crash? It's a pretty decent app and worth purchasing.
As for the second error. YEP! Very familiar with that one as well. I've actually started to get so sick of Dreamweaver that I use a mixture of DW and Stylizer for my CSS coding.
Yep I used App Cleaner to delete those two apps, but I don't think that was it.
I've confirmed that Live View works just fine with straight HTML sites, and it works just fine on a site I'm creating now, which has a lot of PHP in the pages to cut down on repetitve code. It's definitely something that has to do with that error, but nothing to go on, I'm stumped.
Just a follow up on this issue. I started noticing that other sites were just fine and began to wonder if I had possibly made an error just on that particular project. A very close examination showed that in the site setup for the localhost, I had forgotten a second slash for my Web URL path. So instead of http://localhost/domain/, I had errantly entered http:/localhost/domain. Once I put in the extra / everything worked fine. I apologize for any inconvenience from everyone, but report this just in case anyone else has a similar problem.
IM HAVING THIS PROBLEM..but i dont have any hp photo crap and i dont have any internet plugins.
its odd, live view works, until i try to go to safari or preview my site live in safari....live view, by itself works, but do much of anything in live view and dreamweavers going to crash. i will say at least i can use it to check stuff, but id like to work in live view...
