Error Msg: I need to download the latest Flash Player

Aug 22, 2010 7:59 PM

I seem to be getting an error message each time I visit a site that requires Flash. Apparently it thinks I either do not have flash installed or have a downlevel version installed. This is incorrect - I have the latest version installed. In fact, if I go to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ , it says I have Flash version 10,1,82,76 installed.

The problem is that the sites I visit with flash, do not think so.. they say I need the latest version of flash to see the page content.  I have installed flash numerous times, and immediately after installing it again, the page with flash works fine. However, once I shut down and restart, it seems to have lost the fact that flash is installed and I am prompted to intstall it again.  And, yes, I have done an uninstall of flash before reinstalling it again. Doesn't seem to matter - I am continually prompted to get the latest version. What is going on, and how to do I fix this problem?

I am using Windows 7 and IE8 with all the latest fixes and patches installed.
