my framemaker cant find languagedir

Nov 17, 2010 11:43 AM

when i start framemaker 9 appears an error dialog stating "FrameMaker cannot initialize its dictionaries. Either the LanguageDir entry specified in the initialization file is missing or incorrect, or the files in the LanguageDir are missing or corrupted." i´ve checked the maker.ini file, appears LanguageDir=dict.

i´ve also checked the dir folder and i have the files and the autorithy to use them.

any help is apreciated.

Just went through the exact same scenario - found the solution at

I had installed from the DVD and ran into the problem of 'can't initialize dictionaries' --- following the advice from the link above, I first uninstalled FM through the installer/setup software, then re-installed from a local setup copy:

I copied the entire installer content onto my C:\ drive, uninstalled and then installed from there, now everything works just fine.

The OS is Win 7 Professional x64, in a virtual machine on VMware Fusion on a Mac.
