I have a Sager laptop, with an i7 core, NVIDIA Geoforce GTX 285M graphics card and am running Windows 7 Ultimate. One of the touted features of CS5 was that the Mercury Playback Engine was supposed to make the rendering bar yellow, instead of red.
So far, I have only had a few layers of video, but that will change. What do I have to do to ensure Mercury Playback & CUDA are operational?
THanks Harm,
I've been playing with settings for a while (reviewing the help files). Here's the problem, the dropdown box (in project settings/General/video rendering and Playback) for Mercury playback is grayed out. The only selection it displays is "Mercury Playback Engine Software only". I purchased this laptop to take advantage of the graphics hardware.
Make sure you have at least 896 megs of ram for the video card.
Also, if you are having trouble with the hack, I wrote a small program that does it for you. You can find the program here:

It is in the article for doing the unlock or hack. The program is free. Give it a try.
