Minimum Tab Leader

Dec 10, 2010 9:47 AM

Is there a way to specify a minimum distance for a right indent tab? IE in an index I have text that is getting too close to the page numbers before it breaks to a new line.

Not as far as I know. One of the scripters might have a clever way of looking at the x-coordinate of the last character before a tab and add a forced line break if it exceeds a preset value.

Very interesting. That's something I wouldn't have expected.

I just encountered the same problem, and I created a new GREP style for my paragraphs that use right indent tabs.

The GREP looks like this: .(?=~y)

[i.e., select the last letter before a width tab]

To that GREP I assigned a character style that sets the kerning at 120. That seems to accomplish what I wanted when I came across this thread looking for an answer.
