Print problems from CS5 Illustrator and InDesign to Magicolor 7450

New Mac Pro 2.8 Intel Xeon running Snow Leopard 10.6.5

CS5 InDesign 7.0.3 and Illustrator 15.0.2 (latest updates)

all installed new on new computer

 

Konica Minolta Magicolor 7450 connected over network via Bonjour, connected in "Default" of Add Printer

I have installed Magicolor driver 1.6 which is supposed to be 10.6 compatible.

 

Both 7450 printer and ppd appear properly in InDesign and Illustrator Print menu box.

 

Having the following printing problems:

 

Printer functions properly with Acrobat 9, Quark 8.5, Word 2011, for example

 

Printer prints CS5 InDesign docs OK---except when I turn on tiling. Tiled printing does not function

 

Printer will not print any docs from CS5 Illustrator, either as single pages or with tiling turned on

 

In the InDesign and Illustrator cases when the doc is sent to Print, the 7450 printer icon appears briefly in Mac dock and then disappears. The printed document does not appear in the 7450 printer dialogue box. No data is sent to printer. The printer box continues to say Printer Ready

 

Any ideas what the problem is or how to fix?

    I'm not familiar with Mac OS X and my customer is having exactly the same problem. It prints some files perfectly, but cannot print from f.ex Illustrator. How did you solve the problem?

    Goljander,

     

    If the printing problem is in Illustrator only, it would be better to ask in the Illustrator forum. However, you'll need to provide Illustrator forum readers more technical information: What version of Illustrator? What version of OSX? What printer? Has the latest printer driver been installed?

    Unfortunately I never solved the problem. My workaround is to make a pdf of document and that prints. I have not checked about 7450 driver updates in several months to see if it might be fixed by new driver but the driver available at the time didn't help.
