Over the past week,I have been unable to open PDF attachments in my AOL webmail. I encounter no problems with my Outlook Express e-mail. Why is this suddenly happening and how can I correct the problem?
To make sure that Adobe Reader is default,
goto Edit->Preferences->Select default PDF Handler. Check the value in the dropdown list "Select Adobe product". If the first value which appears is 'Adobe ReaderX', then Reader X is the default PDF Handler.
Also please let me know the OS you are using.
Is the problem also faced in AOL webmail with any other Adobe Product(like Acrobat X, Reader 9 etc.) if you are using/used any of them?
Thanks,
Shakti
Hi Shakti,
Thank you for your e-mail. When I followed your instruction, I did not find an option "Select Adobe Product". Also, in case I didn't mention it in my original request for help, I am able to open PDF attachments in my Outlook Express e-mail - it's just in AOL I have a problem. I have the free AOL account. I have asked AOL for help, to no avail. One other problem with AOL, which I have also asked them about, is the fact that as of a month or so ago, I have to right click on the e-mail and select "Open in New Window" in order for the e-mail to open. I don't have that problem with OE either. Seems like the problem is with AOL, doesn't it. By the way, my OS is XP home. Thanks again!

Hi Shaktik,
I downloaded Reader X but, unfortunately, it did not fix my problem. Should I delete the Reader 9? Maybe I have to do that before Reader X is recognized ?? I appreciate your help but I'm at a total loss as to what the problem might be. Especially since I can open my mail and PDF attachments in my Outlook Express. I am just baffled.
