Disable Nik Selective Tool?

Jan 29, 2011 4:05 AM

I'm using Photoshop CS5 64bit on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. My problem is with Nik Color Effex Pro. Photoshop loads like lightning except when it comes to loading the Nik Selective tool, which takes forever. Some times PS will even crash at this point. It evidently doesn't like the Nik Selective Tool very much, and as I never use it, I would like to disable it entirely. Having read previous threads about the Selective Tool, I've tried removing the Selective Tool folder from the Plugins folder and renaming the SelectivePalette file so it doesn't load; these expedients make PS load really fast, but then the Nik plugins don't work; they open, but clicking on OK doesn't transfer the results back into Photoshop. Has anyone any ideas?

I should think you should be asking the Nik people about this.  Doesn't sound like an Adobe problem.  Perhaps Nik already has an update available?
