No audio when importing .mov file recorded in Skype

Feb 8, 2011 2:42 PM

I'm supposed to edit a video that was created in Skype. I had them save it as a .mov file. It plays fine when I play the file on my desktop. However, when I import it into my Premiere project (I'm running Premiere Pro CS3) and preview it, there's no audio. There's also no audio when I play it on the timeline, or when I export it as a WMV or AVI. There is no waveform pattern in the audio timeline in Premiere either The person who created the video is in Omaha and I'm in Denver, so I can't really go check his settings. Any ideas?

    Bruce,

    A couple of thoughts here:

    1. The Audio CODEC is not one that PrPro can work with. What is it?
    2. The Conforming process did not complete, when you Imported the MOV file into PrPro. This ARTIICLE will give you more background.

For # 1, ripping the Audio from the file, and doing a Save_As PCM/WAV 48KHz 16-bit, and Importing that will get you editing.

For # 2, Re-Import and just be patient.

Let us know that Audio CODEC, and someone can likely help you.

    Good luck,

    Hunt
