Error 1321 while installing Adobe Reader X (10.0.1)

Mar 5, 2011 4:41 PM

I couldn't find the answer in previous discussions:  I have Vista and have just tried to install the new Reader.  I've turned off the McAfee firewall and antispam, used both Firefox and IE browsers, and grant permission to "Continue" when asked by Vista to download, but still get "Error 1321.  The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Services\Services.cfg."

What gives?

Can you try after giving yourself full permissions to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\Services\Services.cfg" file and the whole folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader" ?

Yes, please try disabling it temporarily for the duration of the installation. Sometimes the backup software lock the files being updated and interfere with the installation and show an error similar to what you are seeing.
