Story on Motorola Xoom

Apr 10, 2011 5:09 AM

Should story run on the Xoom? If so it won't for me. I downloaded Air fine from Android Market though it takes several goes to install it. Even when it does install when I try to install the desktop app within Story on the web it tells me I don't have Air and then tries to install it - and fails. I can't see a way to get the story file without that apparently unnecessary Air download which won't work. So Story doesn't work on the Xoom for me, which is a shame. It should be very nice.

    Hi david,

I just digged more around this issue.

on xoom (or any android device) you must be having air mobile runtime, which is a light version of full air run time.

On this runtime normal air installers won't run, a specific installer which is a .apk installer is required for this.

Currently this feature is on our product backlog, we will let you know once it's ready.

    thanks

.AIR files can not be installed directly on Android tablet or phone. Application will need to be re-packaged. However we still have some outstanding issues to resolve before the app starts being useful on Xoom or any other android tablet.

Its not that simple. The UI of the application also has to change to provide a great user experience on the Xoom. Imagine trying to access a menu item on the small screen.

So… supporting Androind or iOS will require more work.
