I think registration has to be tightened up. All new users should be required to verify their email address before they can post anything. Also, there should be a limit of only 10 messages on any one day for new users for about a month.
I think, when I registered, I was not required to verify my email. I have 2 different accounts that I know of but I think I have used other accounts in the past if I didn't remember my login details.

I don't think anyone would question any reasonable amout of time devoted to getting the spammers data and thus hopefully prevent them from registering again. It isn't however nice to see reported messages stay for hours and hours.

Longer than those reported on a Tuesday? I reported on May 3rd spam messages that stayed there for several hours. And some people reporting the same messages using the Abuse button have complained of similar delays, with only the specific message reported removed...
Maybe there's some context here I don't know about, but it strikes me as kind of wrong to be needling the admin over how quickly he responds to reports of spam... He IS actually doing so, after all.
What's the agenda? To make him feel bad for doing his job? How is that helpful in any way?
You guys want to zap the spam posts more quickly? Now we know that if 4 people hit the [Report Abuse] button and choose Reason: Spam the post will disappear on its own.

1. The Admin is not the only person who has the power to zap spam posts; there are a number of moderators around the world with the same power.
2. The longer spam posts remain visible, the more spammers are encouraged to continue. They still believe that search engines are picking up their droppings.
3. When a forum gets hit with 20-30 spam posts (not a rare thing over the last few weeks), then the handling of legitimate posts can become very difficult, as these are pushed to page 2 or even 3. Sometimes the forum does not react when clicking on the '2' or 'Next' link - the URL changes to http://forums.adobe.com/community/webplayers/flash_player#, but remains displaying page 1.
