Table lines disappear in PDFs of Word docs

I have been coverting Word documents containing tables to PDFs but when viewing the PDFs at various magnifications, the lines of these tables disappear. They print okay and re-appear at various magnification but it's just annoying when you are trying to present a document and the formatting looks erroneous. This issue seems to be a perenial one judging by the amount of posts on the topic on the WWW so I was just wondering if Adobe have been able to do anything about it?
