Contribute CS4 Edit Mode strips away CSS

The website views fine in Contribute and in all internet browsers. The only problem is when the user selects 'Edit Page' on Contribute the page is like there is no stylesheet/css behind it. The background colour is a gray, all text is left aligned and basically all elements are just sequential and makes it practically uneditable, as the user can't clearly see what it is they are altering.

I have looked through all the settings and simply can't understand why this is happening. Have I missed something?
