Show applicable markers by selecting body text?

May 11, 2011 1:37 PM

Hi folks,

The Markers Pod allows you to view markers in a number of ways, and show their position within the text's body when selected via the pod.  But there seems to be no way to do the opposite - select a marker within the body, and have it be highlighted in the pod.

Am I missing something fundamental here?  Isn't this a much more common real-world need?

Thanks.

Not quite following you - you've got your Text Symbols turned on, right? So you can see where the marker is located (in my case I even set a colour & size character style to make them more noticeable & distinguish between them) & when you select it, the marker pod shows what's in the marker text. Am I missing something?

What version of FM are you using? I'm on 10 and it seems to be working fine for me. I can post a screenshot if it would help.

Ok, here's an example of one of my documents - it's a heading that has 3 different marker types associated with different spots in the text. Each of them is colour coded so that I can tell which one is which:

I've got the Marker Pod open, and have selected one of the markers in the text.

I hope it shows up well enough to see.

So are you still having an issue? If so, maybe posting a screenshot of what you're seeing would me understand what you're looking for?
