I usually produce very simple menus but a client wants to see (when the DVD is placed in the set top player) a logo appear that fades to another logo which fades to the menu.
Could you give me a quick hint on how to do that or point me to a tutorial?
I think you would do that in Premiere, by placing the pictures in a timeline and doing "whatever" effects you need, then export that timeline to a file
Load that file into Encore and mark it as first play, like an FBI warning
I don't do "FBI warning" first play, so can't comment on the transition... does the user guide have more information?
The individual CS5 pages also have links to the CS4 user guide pages
CS5 User Guides - online and PDF (see link in upper right corner at individual pages)
That does work but it leaves me with a rough transition between the video and the menu.
What I do with a Play First Asset is to do a still of the Menu (in the exact state that it will be linked to), and then do a Transtion from the end of my animation to the still Frame from the Menu. Keep this short, as the user will see what "look like" Buttons, but they will just be graphics, with no Button capabilities. I'd probably leave only 1 - 2 Frames, after the end of my Transition. This would be done back in PrPro.
When you do the still, check that the PAR is the exact same, as with the Menu. Using a Flattened PSD from the Menu PSD (remember, turn ON the Sub-picture Highlight, that the user will see on the real Menu), then everything should match 100%.
