3D Blu-ray?

Jun 7, 2011 7:07 AM

Anyone know how to make a 3D Blu-ray in Encore?

at this moment in time, I don't care if it's half res side-by-side, I just want to get something on disc that plays in 3D on a 3D telly with a 3D Blu-ray player without the user haveing to tell their TV what 3D setting to put it on (so it's automatic like a proper 3D Blu-ray)

I have not heard of, nor have I read, any mention of Encore doing 3D.

Most of the links in this ARTICLE are on editing 3D, but some might take it so far as the authoring phase for delivery. Just do not recall any though. Still, some of the tutorials feature Adobe products, so there could be something in there, that I just missed.

Good luck, and hope that some of those links help out,

    >do nothing with it in Encore

As discussed in other message threads (concerning Encore still being a 32bit program) Adobe licenses parts of Encore from Sonic

Encore is a front-end to the actual disc burning code from Sonic... so until Sonic updates those modules, Encore will remain 32bit and will not add any new functions

Thank you for that input. While I have watched them, just for my info, I did not recall any mention of Encore anywhere, but could just have missed that reference.

One thing to consider is that Encore, as we see it, is but an abstraction layer, that wraps the Sonic AuthorCore modules, that Adobe licenses from Sonic. I fear that those modules are not yet capable of 3D authoring. I have not followed Sonic, and what they might offer (with starting prices around US$30K, it's rather out of my league.), but I would anticipate that it might take some time for 3D capabilities to "trickle down" to Encore, if they ever do. Remember, that is pure speculation on my part, as I have no ties to either Adobe, or to Sonic.

Good luck, and if you find some useful info, please let me know, and I'll gladly add the links to that article - TIA.

Here is another LINK, referencing Sonic getting to 3D authoring. Maybe something useful there?

    Good luck,

Using Encore you cannot generate Blu-ray 3D compliant streams, however it's possible using Cineform NeoHD plug-in in Premiere.

If you want to get ahead start on Exporting to Encore. The key thing to remember is to set your Cineform output to Side By Side mode before you export to Media Encoder (File>Export>Media  Format H264  Preset H264 Bluray High Quality).

You can add chapter markers in Premiere or Encore. There is NO S3D menu support in CS5.1. You can use a menu but it will play in 2D not 3D.

    maffmace,

Were you able to produce a 3D  DVD using Encore, using side by side video?

I'm being asked to create a 3D DVD and have been supplied side by side .avi videos.

I'm trying to find out if the final Encore output will actually be 3D, and the TV set will do whatever it's supposed to to make the video appear 3D on-screen.

I also have to create a second version using red/blue anaglyph videos. Any idea if that's a problem in Encore??

I'm not trying to create Blu-ray 3D, just 3D.... is that possible? (clearly, I'm new to all this)

    anyone?
